Silver… The Noble Metal
“The restless tides of the ocean, the surging and ebbing of emotions.”
If there is any precious commodity in the world that typifies mysticism and romance, it is silver. Cosmically related to the feminine energy of the Moon, this strong and luminous metal has attracted our fascination for many thousands of years. Ancient moon-worshipping civilisations treasured silver, crafting it into rings and other jewellery, besides ritual ornaments, cups, mirrors, bells and so on. Much like its ruling planet, silver is fluidic and impressionable to the human mind and will.
Throughout the ages, silver has taken on near-mystical qualities in marking important historical milestones, until it became a tradable commodity in as early as 700 BC and served as a medium of exchange. By the 18th century, the ‘moon metal’ had become — thanks to its key role in the United States monetary system — the currency of gentlemen.
Silver is also antiseptic by nature and is believed to be one of the purest metals known to mankind. In fact, it is for this reason that silver is also used to make the very first vessels for babies and the phrase ‘born with a silver spoon’ is derived from this practice; one that is common in circles of wealth.
